Madeley Academy 6 week squad session a success
The Madeley Academy sessions started with a great success. The first hour was full of three trampolines worth of Madeley Academy children enjoying learning from Nigel and Sian. Many of those stayed on for the next two hours where they were joined by a good number of our squad who had a good workout on some great new Eurotramp trampolines. Let's keep this session going well as it could lead to more growth for the club.
Madeley Academy 6 week squad session
The Madeley Academy Sports and Health Promotion event was a great success in more ways than one. As a consequence of our attendance, we have managed to get a Thursday evening squad session for 6 weeks starting 25th February 2010. The session will be from 5-7pm and will cost £3:00. Those of you that attended the Sports and Health Promotion will know that the trampolines at Madeley are brand new Eurotramps and are great to bounce on. We will only be able to take a maximum of 18 Squad members so, if you can make it please let one of the coaches know as soon as possible. This is a great opportunity and could lead to a more permanent arrangement so please support it.
Madeley Academy Sports and Health Promotion a great success...
The Madeley Academy Sports and Health Promotion event was a great success. The afternoon started with a lesson for the year 7 pupils at Madeley Academy and that was followed by what felt like the whole of Madeley descending on us. Primary school children from the Madeley area arrived and had a great time having a go at trampolining. Thanks go to the following people for representing our club at this great event: Nigel, Becky, Sian, Jess, Elise, Josh, Natalie, Maggie, Sammy, Issy and Darren.
Captain Webb Primary School 10-week course starts...
We have started a new 10-week course for Captain Webb Primary School children. This course follows on from the successful course that we ran for Muxton Primary School. Thanks go to Charlotte for all her hard work in making these courses a success.
Trampolinist of the Year 2009........
The trampolinist of the year for 2009 is Jess Haynes (or Haines!!
). After a fantastic year where the club has gone from strength to strength, Jess has been a constant source of inspiration to the younger members who look up to her as an example of what they can achieve through hard work and dedication. Jess is no stranger to winning trophies as she has recently won the regional qualifier and was 0.5 points away from qualifying for National level.
We are very proud of you at the club, Jess and look forward to you bringing more success in 2010.
Madeley Academy Sports and Health Promotion........
We have been invited to attend the above event on Tuesday 9th February between 2:45pm and 6:00pm. This will be a great opportunity to showcase our skills and promote our club alongside other health and sports related clubs. The first part of the session will be geared toward the year 7 children at Madeley Academy. After that local primary schools have been invited to attend.
If you can get there for any part of the afternoon your presence will be greatly appreciated.
Great Competition Results........
We had a good day at the competition. Jess and Tobie (in his first competition) claimed first place. They were ably supported by Kyla, Abbie and Jake who all came second and Jessica and Josh who came third.
Congratulations also go to Charlotte and Natalie who gained their official required qualification score and to Jessica W who surpassed the guidance score for progression.
Well done guys. Fantastic effort from all of you and all the other competitors who missed out on silverware this time.
See all the results on the results page.

These are responsible positions where they will act as mentors for other members of the squad as well as motivating them to perform their best at all times and be role models for behaviour. They will also be a first point of contact for any team members that have any issues that are troubling them. Jess and Charlotte will liaise with our welfare officer, Kate Wright with any pastoral issues.
Good luck girls and well done on your new, well-deserved status.
The Muxton Primary School Wednesday class is a roaring success.
For those of you that don't know, we have been running a 10-week course for children from Muxton Primary School to introduce them to trampolining. The course was funded as part of the 'Jump Start' grant that we received recently. All the kids have had a great time during the course and we are hoping that they will continue to come after the completion of the course. Thanks go to Charlotte for running the course. Don't they look great in their yellow Phoenix T-shirts?

Fundraising ideas required
We would like to have ideas from members on how to raise funds. A number of people are pursuing grants and awards but we also need ideas of more traditional ways of fundraising to supplement the club's funds. Please put your thinking caps on and try and come up with some ideas of ways to boost the club's income. Let Peter or Nigel know of any ideas you have.
Possible new time for training - your opinions required
We are all aware that we need more training time to get better and win more at the competitions. There is a possibility that we may be able to have the large sports hall for 4 hours on a Saturday afternoon from 2pm until 6pm. Before any of this is confirmed we would like to know how this would affect you. Please let Peter know whether you would be able to make this proposed new time for training.
New Arcade Games
You can now play some arcade games whilst you are on the Phoenix website. Click on 'Arcade' to play them. More will be added at regular intervals.

Thank you to everyone that came this morning
I would like to thank everyone that came to the impromptu session this morning. Unfortunately BBC Radio Shropshire had to send their radio car to the landslide on the A458 between Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury and had to cancel covering our event at the last minute (literally!)
I am trying to get them to come along to one of our regular sessions in the future rather than go through the 5 days of hassle that I had setting this one up.
Once again thanks to those who turned up and I'm sorry it had a somewhat disappointing outcome.
Peter

This has been arranged for Friday 24th April. We will need to be at the Phoenix Sports Centre between 7am and 9am. They want to interview 3 people, one of which is a young trampolinist so if you fancy your voice on the radio let us know.
We will be inviting any Phoenix School children to come along to join in for publicity for the school.
We will give out more details at the next training session.
24 hour bounce
This year's 24 hour sponsored bounce will take place on Friday 10th July at 6pm until Saturday 11th July at 6pm.

Those of you that attended Sunday's session will know that we now have a large noticeboard, dedicated to our club, in the area just outside the Phoenix gym. Thanks go to Stuart Allen (Issy's dad) who provided the board and fixed it to the wall for us. We are looking for ideas and suggestions for things to put on the board. Nigel has made a good start and his forum and blog entries tell you more. Let's see if we can make the board come alive with our activities to encourage people to want to join us.
Don't forget! We have a new session available at Idsall 8-10 Fridays
Chris and Sarah have managed to organise an extra session for Friday evening at Idsall Sports Centre, Shifnal. This session runs from 8pm - 10pm. It's a bit late but if you can make it, that'd be great!

We'll be taking it to all the competitions as our mascot for good luck.
Well done Steve. A fantastic job in finding it.
We thought about making a mini Phoenix leotard for it so if there are any seamstresses out there get in touch.
