January's Trampolinist of the Month is Nicola. Nigel has been particularly impressed by Nicola's "support and encouragement to the newer, younger members during squad training". A special mention also goes to Natalie for her "reliability and determination at January's competition".
December's 'Trampolinist of the Month' goes to Shannon Tolley. Nigel has the following to say about Shannon:- "Although she just missed the squad in time for January’s competition, she has shown true character in her determination to be ready for March".
Shannon has also shown real commitment to her sport by to turning down a birthday party so that she can attend the January competition, to watch and support her teammates and get to know how the competition works.
Well done Shannon.
November's Trampolinist of the Month is Abbie. Abbie came back to the club in recent months and has been an ever present since. Nigel has been impressed with her 'ongoing commitment and effort'. She has also been a great role model for the younger squad members.
Well done Abbie.
October's Trampolinist of the Month is Jessica W. The month started with Jessica winning her very first competition and she has continued in the same vein throughout the month
Nigel has been very impressed with Jessica saying 'I would like to nominate Jessica Watson for October, she has an amazing learning ability and is consistent in her performance'.
Well done Jessica!
September's trampolinist of the month, nominated by Nigel, is Blake.Blake has only been with us a few weeks but has been very impressive and has shown a commitment to work and a willingness to listen. Blake has had good comments from Chris twice in the weekly line-ups recently and fully deserves the award.
The winner of the August 2009 Trampolinist of the month is Nicola.
Nigel chose Nicola due to her boundless enthusiasm, hard work and commitment to the club.
June's Trampolinist of the month was Jess. Nigel has been very impressed with her commitment to the club and her application to improvement.
May's trampolinist of the month, as chosen by Nigel, is Chantelle.
Nigel has been impressed by the way that Chantelle has got on with the job of being a good trampolinist without any fuss.
Chantelle started about twelve months ago up at Oakengates leisure centre where a friend got her involved. She took to it quite well and started doing it at an after school club run by her school, Becky noticed her and invited her to try out the Phoenix club, shortly after Nigel asked her to join in with the squad, she entered a school competition about two months ago and won. The competition at Birmingham was the first time she'd been back on the trampoline in a couple of weeks after breaking her finger!! She didn't do as well as she thought at that but she was just pleased to have got there at all! Last but not least her favourite move is a forward sommersault, well until she learns a backwards one!!
April's Trampolinist award goes to Sarah. Nigel has been very impressed with Sarah this month. Here's what he has to say :
"Sarah has my April vote, in addition to working hard improving her performance she has also completed the level 2 Coaching course and is a credit to our club".
Well done Sarah!
March's trampolinist of the month is Maggie. Nigel has been very impressed with her commitment recently and likes the fact that she just gets on with the job of being a good trampolinist without making any fuss.
Maggie started trampolining in 2007 having seen trampolinists at her sister's gymnastics club. Maggie loves the way that she can have fun and make friends at the same time. Maggie's favourite move is the front drop as she thinks they are fun to do. She thinks that all the coaches are good and couldn't possibly pick one as her favourite.
Nigel also wanted to give special credit to Josh and Nicola who have also performed very well lately and shown great commitment to the sport.
This month's trampolinist of the month, chosen by Nigel, is Charlotte. Nigel has been very impressed with her "resolute determination to improve her performance".
Charlotte started trampolining 3 and a half years ago, on a Saturday afternoon at Sian's session; with her friend Natalie. Sian told her, after a while, to try the Sunday morning session out when the club was based at Madeley; that's when Josh (her brother) started and they both really enjoyed it and have come ever since. Her favourite move is the back-somersault, but she can't wait until she can do a barani!!! She doesn't really have a favourite coach because she thinks that all of them make her work hard, but Chris has pushed her lately and she's really grateful for that, but she wants to thank Sian for telling her to go in the first place. She loves our new trampolining club, and likes the fact that "we're all in it together!!! ",
January's trampolinist is Emily. Nigel has chosen her after being very impressed with her January competition performance at Cocks Moors Woods.
Emily has been trampolining since March 2008. She started because one of her friends was doing it and she had a trampoline in the back garden.
Emily thinks that the best thing about trampolining is meeting new friends.
Her favourite coach is Becky but Chris comes a close second. She says that she found it hard to choose because Becky is a nice person and makes her work hard and Chris is funny but he shouts sometimes.
Emily loves doing competitions but admits that she sometimes gets nervous.
Emily loves the new friends that she has made through trampolining and says that everyone at the Phoenix club is friendly and made her feel very welcome when she first started.
Emily's favourite trampoline move is the front drop and her ambition is to be able to do a front somersault.
Jess is 15 years old and has been trampolining at Phoenix for 8 years. When asked how she got into trampolining, Jess replied "I just turned up one day!" Jess is currently competing at Regional D level and has been successful at many competitions over the years. Jess enjoys the fun element of trampolining as much as the competitive element.
