Beckham, Rooney and Limbrick

Posted by telfordtwisters on August 14, 2009 at 12:38 PM

What do David Beckham, Wayne Rooney and me all have in common? No it's not loads of money (I wish). It's that we've all broken our metatarsal bone in our foot.

This happened to me last weekend whilst trampolining. Here's the story: Sian was teaching two children and one over-sized child (yours truly) a few moves during the recreational session. Everything was going fine until one rather dodgy landing that catapulted me towards the end of the trampoline in a heap. I vaguely remember my foot landing on the springs. Didn't think too much about it, laughed it off and tried to get Sian to believe that I'm not normally that bad:lol:. I'm not sure she was convinced! I carried on for another 15 minutes before we had a short break. During the break I thought my foot felt a bit uncomfortable. Went home and expected it to last an hour or so. Two days later I was in casualty with a little toe the size of my big toe and bright purple.

I warned all the medical staff that examined me not to say that fateful phrase 'Don't you think you're getting too old for this, Mr Limbrick'. They didn't but my work colleagues certainly made up for it.

It really hurt and I'm still walking around with a considerable limp and may be out of action for a few weeks. But I'll be back before you know it frightening all you spotters again.

Peter,
Sorry to hear of your toetal disaster on the trampoline I hop you are not in too much pain. It?s good to see that you were pointing your toes though, even if it was in the direction of A&E, although you really should try to avoid bouncing on the metal parts of the trampoline. But in true Nigel style I would like to offer my sympathy, best wishes and thanks for a good laugh.
See you Sunday
